I am trying to get ahead of the game.
Thanks to the invaluable advice of another Tate author, I have begun to think of ways to advertise my book. I'm not naive enough to believe it will sell 5000 copies on its own. I realize I'll have to put a lot of effort into selling it (which is not my favorite part of this process, by the way).
So, at the advice of my new friend, I visited a marvelous website: vistaprint.com. They sell everything from banners to business cards, magnets to t-shirts. If you want it, they have it. The great thing about this company is that they offer free products. Last week I ordered business cards, a stamper, a pen, and a car magnet. Each had my name and website information on them, and all I had to pay was shipping. They arrived today.
This week they offered free shipping on anything over $30. So in addition to more freebies, I ordered address labels, notecards, a banner, notepads, and more business cards. And all of these have the book cover for "Second Chance" printed on them as well!
I'm ready to advertise...and the book hasn't even been published yet. But hopefully people will see these and will think about going online and ordering it once it arrives!
http://vistaprint.com is really good - I use them a lot
ReplyDeleteHere's another good publicity strategy if you're going to have it on Amazon: ask everybody you know to hold off on purchasing the book until a certain day, at a certain time. If you can sell 200 books in an hour, then you'll get ranked as an Amazon bestseller (even if it's just for that one hour) - neat trick eh?
Another good site that's sort of like vistaprint is http://elance.com - that's a good place for getting any sort of graphic work done, or any kind of outsourced work really...
Hope you like those ideas buddy! Very excited for you!
Thanks for the advice Eric...I mean "Mr. Evenger". I will certainly keep that in mind! I had planned on putting a PayPal button on my website, so people who wanted a signed copy could order one from me.
ReplyDeleteBut you have a point about the Amazon site!
I have ordered stuff from Vista Print as well. Good thinking! Love the Amazon web site idea. I think we could pull that off. Have a Help Kari become a best seller online party!
